HOMEBOUND MINISTRY |
The Homebound Ministry is alive and well at SPUMC,
but can be even better with your help.
The purpose of
this ministry is to keep in
touch with our homebound members through prayer, calls, cards, and
visits. We would like to form a rotation of members who would be willing
to provide transportation to SPUMC members who would like to attend
services. There will be sign-up sheets at the Homebound table in
Fellowship Hall on Be the Church Sunday. Additionally if you know of
someone who needs this service, please email
Bette MacWilliams
or see her at the blood pressure table on Sundays.
We would welcome additional volunteers. We meet for an hour 3-4
times a year, and ask only that you have a heart for the homebound. |
Kindness Kitchen |
Volunteers
provide meals to those in the congregation who need assistance during
times of illness or other crises.
Members of the Kindness Kitchen Ministry Team all agreed that the
grace of the ministry works both ways as many recalled how they were
blessed by taking a meal to someone.
It's not necessary to be members of our church to receive this
service. Persons may request meals by contacting the church office
at 410-987-4700, or by filling out a request form located at the
Welcome Center
If you would like to participate in the committee, need a
meal or know of someone who does, contact

PRAYER
MINISTRY |
There are many facets to our
prayer
ministry. For example, prayer requests from the
congregation are prayed over by our prayer
team, pastors, and staff throughout the week. They are also passed on to the many
members of our prayer chain. |
PROJECT LINUS |
Project Linus is a 100% Volunteer non-profit organization. It's mission
is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children
up to age 18 who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need.
The blankets are personalized with a tag depicting the Peanuts character
Linus, carrying his security blanket and states "Made with Tender Loving
Care for Project Linus".
The Arts & Crafts Circle of the
United
Methodist Women and other church members
make these hand made - crocheted, knitted,
sewn and quilted blankets and
contribute about 100 annually to AAMC pediatrics and NICU, nighttime

PRAYER Shawl
Ministry |
The goal of our Prayer Shawl Ministry is to offer comfort to those
experiencing chemo, radiation, or other treatment for diagnosed
cancer as well as those receiving dialysis or in a church home.
Members of the Shaw Ministry knit and crochet
the shawls, lap robes, hats and slippers. By the time a shawl
is completed, it is filled with prayers, providing not only physical
warmth but also great spiritual comfort and an understanding of
another's struggles or grief. A prayer shawl is worth thousands of
words.
